Unox Two-Piece Threaded Stainless Steel Ball Valve
What is a Two-Piece Stainless Steel Ball Valve?
A two-piece stainless steel ball valve is a quarter-turn valve that uses a ball-shaped disk to start or stop the flow. It is defined as a mechanical device that directs and modulates the flow of various types of fluids by opening a ball with a hole in the center. By turning the handle on the valve, the port that controls the pressure of the fluid flow can be manually opened or closed. Durability and excellent sealing are the features that make ball valves advantageous compared to other types of valves.
How Does a Two-Piece Ball Valve Work?
Valves that need to regulate flow in a pipe often require an actuator in more complex control systems. The actuator controls the valve pneumatically or electrically and positions it appropriately to ensure that the fluid flow responds accurately to changing pressures and flow rates. When selecting a suitable valve, the features to consider include temperature and pressure ratings, number of ports, valve size, body material type, end connections, and configuration.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Ball Valves
Advantages:
-
Quick open and close operation
-
Tight sealing with low torque
-
Smaller in size compared to most other valves
Disadvantages:
-
Conventional ball valves have poor throttling capabilities
-
In slurry or other applications, suspended particles can settle, become trapped in body cavities, and cause wear, leakage, or valve failure
