Unox Stainless Steel Wafer Type Butterfly Valve with EPDM Seal
What is a Wafer Type Butterfly Valve?
Butterfly valves operate by rotating a disc made of nickel, stainless steel, or other materials (AISI 304, AISI 316, AL-BR), which is fixed around a central shaft, to perform the opening and closing function. The disc presses against a rubber or plastic seal to start, slow down, or completely stop the flow of liquids or gases. These valves have a quarter-turn disc and a sealing gasket, used to stop, regulate, or start fluid flow.
How Does a Wafer Type Butterfly Valve Work?
Wafer type butterfly valves have protruding lugs that cover the entire valve body and are designed to align with the bolt holes on the flange they will be connected to. They are installed by securing between two flanges with bolts, studs, and nuts. This design prevents the pipe system from being disconnected on one side of the valve alone.
The valve is placed between pipe flanges and flange bolts surround the valve body. It is easy to install but cannot be used as an isolation valve. It can be manually operated or equipped with pneumatic or electric actuators for automated control.
