What is a General Purpose Solenoid Valve?

A general purpose solenoid valve is an electromagnetic control device operated by electric current. When electricity is supplied to the coil, a magnetic field is generated which moves a piston or diaphragm to open or close the flow of liquids or gases such as water, air, oil, or gas. Due to their compact size and quick control capability, solenoid valves are widely used in industrial systems.

Normally Closed (NC) Solenoid Valve Operating Principle

In normally closed solenoid valves, the valve remains closed without electrical power, blocking the flow. When electrical current is applied to the coil, the magnetic field pulls the valve open, allowing fluid flow. This mechanism provides fast response times and reliable operation.

Installation and Usage Recommendations

• Align the flow direction with the arrow marked on the valve body.

• Since the solenoid valve does not function as a check valve, install a check valve downstream if backflow prevention is needed.
