Şamandıralı Kondenstop (Float Condensate Trap) is a type of valve used to control the flow of fluids, such as water or steam, in a piping system. It consists of a valve body with a hollow chamber known as the "float chamber," which is filled with liquid. The valve body also has an inlet and an outlet port, along with a control element like a ball or disk connected to the float.

When the fluid enters the float chamber through the inlet port, it raises the float, which in turn raises the control element, allowing the fluid to flow out through the outlet port. As the fluid flow decreases, the float and control element descend, closing the outlet port and preventing further flow of the liquid.

Where are Float Condensate Traps Used?

Float condensate traps are commonly used in heating and cooling systems to regulate the flow of steam or water and can be employed to maintain a constant liquid level in a tank or prevent excessive pressure in a system. They are simple, reliable, easy to maintain, and adjustable to control the flow rate of the liquid.

Operating Principle

The UKS-70D Float Condensate Trap with Air Venting Unit offers installation options for flow from right to left and from left to right in a horizontal position. Vertical flow connections are also possible. The direction of condensate flow should be specified when ordering. The default factory setting is for flow from right to left.

The UKS-70D continuously drains condensate and is preferred in situations where rapid condensate discharge is required. When the system starts up, the thermostatic air vent activates to expel air from the system. Once steam arrives, the air vent closes, but as soon as condensate reaches the condensate trap, the float rises, opening the main valve to allow condensate discharge. When steam reaches the trap again, the float lowers, closing the main valve.

The Three Main Functions of Steam Traps:

  1. Drain the formed condensate.

  2. Prevent steam from escaping during drainage. This is where the term "steam sealing" comes from.

  3. Expel air and non-condensable gases.
