Unox Flanged Steam Separator
What is a Steam Separator?
A steam separator is a device primarily used to separate water and steam, commonly found in steam boilers. The water surface inside the boiler is turbulent, making it easy for steam and water to mix.
The principle of a steam separator is to change the direction of the steam flow. Since steam has a lower density than water, it facilitates the easier separation of steam from water. Water droplets, which have a higher density, separate from the steam and fall to the bottom of the separator. If water or wet steam is delivered to the steam line, moisture causing damage and erosion will be removed by a steam separator.
How Does a Steam Separator Work?
When steam enters the steam separator, it passes through a series of baffles that change the flow direction multiple times. During this process, the baffles inside the casing collect water droplets carried in the system. Gravity causes the accumulated water droplets and other foreign particles to drain out through a steam trap. The remaining steam in the system is clean and dry, resulting in improved and maintained performance.
