Structure of the Double Flap Check Valve

A double flap check valve generally consists of the following components:

• Flaps (Plates): Each flap acts as a gate that allows flow in one direction and blocks it in the other.

• Spring: Keeps the flaps in the closed position when there is no forward flow.

• Actuator: Responsible for opening and closing the flaps (in some designs).

Working Principle of the Double Flap Check Valve

The valve operates as follows:

1. The flow moves in the direction where the flaps are open.

2. The flaps open due to the pressure of the flowing medium.

3. The fluid passes through to the other side.

4. When the flow tries to reverse direction, back pressure pushes the flaps closed.

5. This prevents reverse flow and protects the system.
