What is a Motorized On-Off Control Valve?

A control valve is a valve used to regulate a fluid by adjusting the size of the flow passage according to a signal from a controller. Control valves allow pressure, temperature, flow rate, and level control in all processes where a fluid is present. They enable fluids such as cold water, hot water, steam, hot water, vapor, and gases to be transported and controlled without any loss in industrial systems.

How Does an On-Off Control Valve Work?

The on-off operating principle refers to a control system where a device or system is either fully open or fully closed, with no intermediate states. This type of control is generally used in simple systems where a device or process needs to be turned on or off based on a specific condition or input.

An example of on-off operation is a thermostat controlling a heating or cooling system. When the thermostat is set to a certain temperature, it turns the system on or off to maintain that temperature. If the room temperature falls below the setpoint, the heating system turns on; if it rises above the setpoint, the system turns off.

The on-off principle is relatively easy to implement and understand, making it suitable for simple control systems. However, because it does not allow fine adjustments or intermediate states, it is generally less precise than other control methods.
