What is a Motorized Proportional Control Valve?

A control valve is a valve used to regulate a fluid by varying the size of the flow passage in response to a signal from a controller. Control valves allow pressure, temperature, flow, and level control in all processes involving the fluid. In industrial facilities, control valves enable the transport and regulation of fluids such as chilled water, hot water, steam, hot oil, and gases without any loss of energy or efficiency.

What is the Operating Principle of a Proportional Control Valve?

The proportional operating principle refers to a control system concept in which the control signal is directly proportional to the error between the desired setpoint and the actual process value. In other words, the control signal is adjusted according to the magnitude and direction of the error.

This type of control system is used in various applications where it is necessary to maintain a process variable at a specific setpoint or within a certain range. It is commonly applied in temperature control, pressure control, and flow control systems.

In a proportional control system, the control signal is generated by a controller that compares the setpoint with the process value and calculates the error. The controller then applies a control signal proportional to the error to the process. This control signal is generally applied through a control element, such as a valve, which can adjust the flow of a fluid or the position of a mechanism to change the process variable.
