Single-Acting Pneumatic Actuated U-PVC Butterfly Valve for Acid Applications
What is a Pneumatic Actuated U-PVC Butterfly Valve?
A U-PVC butterfly valve is a type of valve made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (U-PVC). Butterfly valves are used to open and close the flow of fluids inside a pipeline system. They are commonly installed in water distribution networks and industrial piping systems.
U-PVC butterfly valves are widely preferred due to their lightweight structure, easy installation, and strong resistance to corrosion, which ensures long service life in demanding environments.
How Does a Butterfly Valve Work?
A butterfly valve operates using a rotating disc inside the pipe:
- When open, the disc aligns with the flow direction, allowing fluid to pass with minimal resistance.
- When closed, the disc turns perpendicular to the flow and blocks it completely.
This quarter-turn mechanism allows fast and efficient flow control.
Where Are U-PVC Butterfly Valves Used?
- Water treatment plants (filtration and disinfection processes)
- Chemical processing industries (corrosion-resistant applications)
- Food and beverage industry (liquid and gas flow control)
- HVAC systems (airflow regulation in ducts)
- Agricultural irrigation systems
- Plumbing and water distribution systems
- Industrial sectors such as oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, and power plants
General Properties of Polyethylene Materials
- High mechanical strength
- Resistant to acids, bases, and solvents
- Excellent dielectric (electrical insulation) properties
- Resistant to environmental conditions
Depending on application needs, pneumatic actuators with torque values ranging from 9 Nm to 400 Nm are used. Optional accessories such as switch boxes and directional valves can also be integrated into the system.
