Element Level Float Switch TTR
Level Float Switch
Level float switches are control devices equipped with a mechanism that provides electrical contact based on the rise and fall of the water level in a tank, reservoir, or well. They ensure that the water level remains within a specified range or trigger another device to activate or deactivate according to the water level.
Level float switches are connected electrically in series and function as an electrical switch within the system, opening or closing the circuit as needed.
Operating Principle of Liquid Level Float Switches
The float is lighter than water, so it rises to the surface when submerged. When the water level drops, the float moves downward with the water. Inside the float, a stainless steel ball approximately 25 mm in diameter moves about 2 cm forward or backward in its channel depending on the float’s movement. A micro switch fixed at the end of the channel is actuated by the steel ball’s linear motion, opening or closing the circuit. This provides electrical switching for controlling devices.
Applications of Level Float Switches
-
Tank Filling:
Used for automatic water tank filling. When the tank is full, the switch stops the pump; when the tank empties, it activates the pump. This ensures the tank remains filled. -
Tank Emptying / Pump Protection:
Protects pumps and pressure boosters (hydrofores) from running dry, which can cause costly damage. Submersible pumps without built-in float switches, as well as surface pumps and hydrofores, should use external float switches. Many submersible pumps on the market already have an integrated float switch, making additional protection unnecessary.
Key Features of ELEMENT Liquid Level Float Switches
-
Thick Cable Section (3×1 mm²): Works reliably even with powerful pumps. The three-wire design allows use for both tank filling and emptying.
-
Note: Only two wires are required for operation; the third can serve as a fault signal. Many low-cost float switches use only two wires, limiting their functionality to tank emptying.
-
-
Submersion Weight Included: Ensures the easiest and most practical method to control water level.
